The Bromfield Drama Society advanced through the preliminary round of the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival this past weekend. The group’s performance of Defying Gravity at Brookline High School was praised by the adjudicators, who were impressed by the “wonderful ensemble of actors who trusted the strength of the text and the excellent support of imagery in the design elements.”
Awards were presented for excellence in acting to senior Rebecca Turner and junior Molly O’Rourke-Friel. Junior Peter Moberly picked up an award for sound design, and the entire design team was given an award for excellence in set design.
The semifinal round is planned for Saturday, March 13, in the Cronin Auditorium, with the Bromfield play being presented at 12:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $10, will be available at the door.
