Senior housing discussion

The Housing Authority is looking into the possibility of building senior housing on town land surrounding Hildreth House. Consultants working with the Authority would like to hear from seniors about what features they want to see in a senior housing community. They will be at Hildreth House to meet with seniors Monday, July 14, at 2 p.m. Seniors are invited to attend, even if not presently considering a move. Anyone who is interested in providing feedback but is unable to attend can send comments to the COA by mail at P.O. Box 615, or by e-mail at coa@harvard.ma.us.

Summer potluck

The COA will host a potluck dinner Monday, July 28, at 5 p.m. The COA will provide the paper goods and beverages; those attending will provide the food and good company. Call the office at 978-456-4120 to let organizers know what you plan to bring.

Summer notes

• The Council on Aging office (978-456-4120) will be open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and closed Fridays through Aug. 29.
• The afternoon aerobics instructor, Elaine Corsetti, will be taking the months of July and August off. Classes will resume Wednesday, Sept. 3.
• The next four-week morning exercise class with Nancy Webber will begin Monday, July 7, and will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 to 10 a.m. through July 30 at the Congregational Church, upstairs in the Fellowship Hall. The first class is free to new members. Call the COA to join.

Programs that can help

Brown bag lunch—The Council on Aging offers a brown bag lunch option at Hildreth House Thursdays at noon. Bring your lunch and come for a visit.

Computer assistance in your home—COA volunteer Jack Purdy is available to come to your home to help solve a computer problem or provide some technical assistance. Contact him at 978-456-8657 to make an appointment..

On the road with the COA

Thursday, July 31: The COA travels to Boxborough for the annual Sunny Skates ice skating exhibition. The group will leave Hildreth House at 2:15 p.m. and return by 4:45 p.m. Cost is $2.

Wednesday, Aug. 13: This trip includes a cruise of Boston harbor aboard the Odyssey, and a visit to the Institute of Contemporary Art. The cruise includes a buffet lunch, live entertainment, and a narrated tour of the harbor. The group will leave Hildreth House at 10 a.m. and return by 5:30 p.m. Cost is $58.
