Apples are in season! Apples are a delicious and important part of Harvard. Our local economy was primarily based on agriculture until the middle of the 20th century, and this history lives on in the many apple orchards around town.
When the English colonists arrived in the 17th century, they found just crab apples—the only apples native to the United States. European settlers brought with them the seeds of their favorite fruits, including many of the apple varieties we enjoy today.

There are just two more Harvard Farmers' Market Saturdays this season—Oct. 18 and 25.
