Aug. 13 marks the start of the fifth season of the Harvard Farmers’ Market. Located in its familiar spot at the Hildreth Elementary School, the market will feature familiar favorites such as Flats Mentor Farm, Signal Rock Farm, and Applefield Farm, as well as several new vendors.
Two new vendors at this year’s market include Samira’s Homemade and Lawton’s Family Farm. Samira’s will bring hummus, tabouli, babaganoush, grape leaves and olives, and Lawton’s will be selling cheese.
Over the course of the market season, which runs through Oct. 29, community events will take place at the market, including Wool Day, an event to bring local wool and fabric artisans together to share their knowledge and products; Get Growing!, a judged event with multiple entry classes for fruit and vegetables; and Farmer for a Day, in which school-age kids are invited to join the market as vendors for the day.
The Harvard Farmers’ Market recently earned the designation of a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Massachusetts. More information on events and contributing to support the Market are available at harvardfarmersmarket.org.
