The upcoming second annual Harvard Friends of the Arts Talent Show will showcase the hidden talents of Harvard residents in a two-hour show at Volunteers Hall on April 30.
The show will be emceed by local ukulele teacher Danno Sullivan. Sullivan was once involved in improv in Los Angeles, where he hosted his own comedy show. The HFOA Talent Show is a family affair for the Sullivans—Danno’s wife, Erin, will be a repeat performer from last year, when she sang “Ode on a Septic Tank.”
There will be 15 acts on the bill this year, among them singer-songwriter Ashley Jordan; the six-piece band, The Lost Chord; guitarist Graham Fedderson; singer Emma Hall; The Martiko Family Band; ukulele player and humorist Tim Clark; and poet Keith Turner.
Diane Hall of the HFOA says the organization wanted “to build on the previous history of Harvard town talent shows, specifically the ‘Talented Townies,’ which was run by the Warner Free Lecture Series. Last year’s show was a great success, so we decided to make it an annual event.”
HFOA, a subcommittee of the Friends of the Harvard Public Library, was founded in 2007, and has as its mission “to stimulate and promote high quality, diverse professional and amateur talent” and to make Volunteers Hall a central gathering place that supports “the transformative power of artistic expression.”
For the April 30 show, doors open at 7 p.m.; the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The show will include an intermission, with refreshments. Admission is free, although donations to support HFOA will be accepted.
