Featuring works by preschool artists inspired by Picasso, Matisse, and Monet, the Village Nursery School’s annual art show took place Wednesday, April 18. The preschoolers worked on art projects for the show for several weeks as part of their school curriculum, rendering their masterpieces in fingerpaint, woodblock, and spin art.
The children were proud to show their artwork to family and friends, according to school Director Jane Vindetti. “Displaying their work supports the development of self-esteem,” she said. The show has two goals, she explained: to teach different art media to the children, and to display it for the enjoyment of all involved.
Working with the children and watching their artwork evolve was very gratifying, said teacher Erin Keiran. “You could see a progression of how the children worked with the media and developed their own artistic style,” she said.
