Poetry by Chase Peters, age 9, Oak Hill Road
Florida
Florida wakes up bouncing very, very excited.
It knows you are coming.
Trees shake wildly, knocking down leaves and fruits.
It knows you will stay.
Water skips the storms and stays calm.
It knows you are here.
Flowers and plants hop up and down.
They’re waiting for you.
Animals party on land and water, waiting for you.
They know you will like it here.
Day waits for you, and might turn into night,
But it will wait for you.
Chase wrote this poem for a friend, Bryce McGuire, when she was moving to Florida last year.
