Twenty-one awards, commendations, and scholarships were presented at Bromfield School graduation on June 5.
Steven Johnston Memorial Scholarship—Will Gunner, for his compassion, integrity and strong values.
Anne Moynihan Memorial Scholarship—Lisa Reedich, whose scholarship celebrates the life of dental hygienist and Harvard resident Anne Moynihan.
William Post Award—Jacob Waldman, in recognition of his quiet humor and courage in the face of personal challenge.
Learning Express Scholarships—Jordan McDonell, Jeffrey Messina, Kaitlyn Phillips, and Benjamin Waldman, who received the scholarships from Lauren DiMinico of the Bromfield Class of 2001. DiMinico presented them on behalf of her mother, the founder of Learning Express.
Arlene Gutz Award—Will Gunner, for giving the most time and talent to the Drama Society.
Mario Barba Post-Secondary Education Award—Paul Jordan Talbot, for “a passion for community service.”
Harvard Teacher’s Association Awards—Lewis Alfano, Elise Bilodeau, Elizabeth Douglas, Emily Jones, Brian Lynch, Emily Reedich, Erica Schwiegershausen, Jacob Waldman, and Meredith Stapleton for a range of admirable qualities and talents, explained association president and history teacher Kathleen Doherty. The awards were funded by proceeds from the annual staff-versus-seniors basketball game.
Mary Kaye Waldron Memorial Scholarship—Jacqui Holmes, for being a student of accomplishment with a unique presence and style. A graduate of Bromfield and Boston College, Waldron was an inspiration for her class in spite of the terminal cancer diagnosis she received as a young woman.
Harvard Parent-Teacher Organization Award—Rachael Kipps, for her interest in the field of education.
Francis Reeve Award—Emily Egan, for her interest and accomplishment in history.
Harvard Woman’s Club—Madeline Darden, Emily Egan, Will Gunner, and Caitlin Nygren, for academic effort, leadership, and community involvement.
Elizabeth and Stanley Turner Award—Arjuna Hayes, whose scholarship Elizabeth Turner established in memory of her husband.
Bromfield Trustees Awards—Helen Kilian, Jordan McDonell, Scott Nussdorfer, Sam Dorward, and Sam Peisch, whose awards were created by a bequest of Margaret Bromfield. Kilian, McDonell, and Nussdorfer received one-time prizes; Dorward’s and Peisch’s are renewable.
For Art’s Sake Donna Sherman Art Scholarships—Robbie Hubert, Hannah Katz, and Jenna Tomasello, for artistic expression and creative thinking. The scholarships were created in memory of Donna Sherman’s lifelong interest in the arts.
Harvard Schools Trust Scholarship—Jeffrey Messina.
Harvard Athletic Association Awards—Hugo Al-Homsi, Elise Bilodeau, Caleb Frost, Carrie Magee, Jordan McDonell, Kevin Molinaro, Robin Neschke, Sam Peisch, Emily Reedich, and Kelly Thurston, for giving many years of community service to the association’s programs, and acting as role models and mentors for young athletes.
David Durrant Scholarships—Harry Powell and Caitlin Nygren, for demonstrating wits and empathy in service to the ambulance squad.
Harvard Lions Club Community Award—Jordan McDonell and Lisa Reedich, for showing exemplary commitment to others and the community.
Ginny Thurston Civic Scholarship Award—Elizabeth Douglas, for her commitment to the work of the library.
Sustainability Award—Helen Kilian, for her dedicated activism on behalf of the environment. The award was granted by Marilyn Strong.
Murphy Insurance Company Award—Kevin Molinaro.
Fanfare!— Kristina Kronauer and Paul Jordan Talbot.
Dunstable Artisans—Jenna Tomasello.
