Fruitlands will be the setting for an evening of fun and fashion Thursday, Sept. 18, when the Friends of the Council on Aging put on the first-ever Fall into Fashion show, featuring both dressy and casual clothing from Gould’s of Acton. Local models, recruited from various town organizations, will stroll the runway as guests nibble on hors d’oeuvres made by B.J. Pessia and listen to harpist Claire Rindsnello, according to event organizer and Friends of the COA member Bonnie Sweeney. A silent auction will also be part of the inaugural event, with items ranging from two tickets to the PTO Fall Fête to a garden gargoyle from the Friends of the Library.
Friends of the COA President Marie LeBlanc is looking forward to the fashion show and can’t wait to see models like Nick Browse, Susan Barber, and Paul and Connie von Loesecke take the stage. LeBlanc noted that Gould’s plans to go all out showcasing fall’s latest resort wear, evening dress, and casual, everyday fashions.
“They’ll have the whole nine yards,” LeBlanc said.
Fall into Fashion is modeled on similar events in other towns, and will serve as a fundraiser for both the Tax Relief Fund and the Council on Aging, according to Sweeney. The event came into being after a number of parents got together and recognized a need to support Harvard’s seniors and thank them for the support they offer to the younger generations.
“It takes a good village to care for its senior citizens, too,” Sweeney said.
Tickets to the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., are $30 per person. They can be purchased by contacting Marie LeBlanc at 617-513-0433 or marieleblanc@charter.net.
